Voluntary Return Kakuma

If you are interested in voluntary return to your country of origin and you wish to obtain further information about the process, conditions in country of origin, return assistance and services, please see below.

For your information, please be informed that UNHCR Kenya provides a pre-departure cash grant of 50 USD per person for Burundian returnees and150 USD per person to returnees of other nationalities regardless of their, age or travel mode.

  • Three Help Desks where DRC staff register intention to return are accessible in both Kakuma and Kalobeyei from Monday to Friday 8:30 – 12:30 (no appointments required) in the locations below.
    • Locations:
      • Kakuma 1 – UNHCR Field Post 1
      • Kakuma 2, 3 and Kakuma 4 – DRC Youth Centre
      • Kalobeyei – UNV Hall Village 2

Visit the Integrated Return Help Desks (IRHD) and staff members of UNHCR, and DRC will provide necessary information. You will also be able to register with DRC once you decided to voluntarily return to your country of origin.

You can also book a field post counselling appointment with UNHCR through KASI. KASI is available on computers located in UNHCR Field Posts.
