Persons with Specific Needs Services & Emergency Assistance

Caritas also provides emergency assistance in case of death, and services for people with specific needs and the elderly. Emergency assistance is also provided through the “People with Specific Needs” project. Caritas also provides individual and group counseling and psychosocial support for people with special needs and the elderly. Prosthetic devices, materials and supplies that improve quality of life (pressure relief mattresses, adult diapers, etc…) can be dispensed.
Caritas facilitates access to essential services, including rehabilitation therapy, through referral. Social and recreational activities are organized regularly to enhance the psychological state and social integration of people with special needs.:

For those who have a valid UNHCR card, the MFA reference number and the appointment date could be obtained from Caritas Egypt – at their following offices:

Protection Services

Child Protection / Assistance and Housing For Unaccompanied & Separated Children (UASC)

Caritas supports UASC. Following registration with UNHCR, the child will be notified by UNHCR Child Protection Team (CP) on the same day about which CP agency will conduct your best interests assessment (BIA). Only after the BIA, you will be informed when you need to go to Caritas Garden City to process your financial assistance. Please make sure you do not miss your financial assistance appointment date; otherwise please inform your caseworker in advance. Caritas also provides support with housing for UASC.

Psychological and Mental Health Services (Alexandria and North Coast Governates)

Caritas provides mental health services for psychological assessment and service delivery through a team of doctors and psychologists.
The service includes outpatient examinations, psychotherapy sessions, and full prescription of medications for free, in addition to the required examinations.
The Caritas emergency response team also contributes 24 hours a day.

The Community empowerment Project provides capacity building, arts, cultural, and sports activities, protection awareness seminars, social awareness, life skills, various vocational courses and workshops, and recreational and educational activities for children.

Caritas also provides computer labs to facilitate access to free training offered by the Coursera platform. Refugees can access high-speed internet and computers to benefit from the many trainings available on the platform.

Partner Community and Government Centers:

The Community Support Project offers many services such as capacity building, arts, cultural, and sports activities, protection awareness seminars, social awareness, life skills, various vocational courses and workshops, and recreational and educational activities for children through various community support centers and partner community and government centers.
