After creating an account and making all the desired changes, you can submit your online request to UNHCR Egypt for an in-person registration appointment and receive your appointment slip.

Requesting an appointment

  • Once you complete your application, you can select the closest UNHCR registration office to your location and submit your application.
  • We will send you confirmation and an application reference number in the e-mail you provided.
  • Within 2 weeks, you should receive a notification of your in-person registration appointment at a UNHCR registration office for you and your family members. You will also receive all the necessary information to help you prepare for your appointment.
  • If you cannot reach a UNHCR registration office, you will also be able to indicate this in the online tool. UNHCR will save your information in case we are able to reach your location in the future.

ATTENTION:

  • There is limited information you can change on your account after having an appointment (read the questions below to learn more).
  • If, for any reason, you are unable to use the online tool, you can make an appointment in person with the UNHCR office closest to you or through our UNHCR Infoline:
    • Call UNHCR Infoline from Sundays to Wednesdays from 8:15 am to 3:30 pm and on Thursdays from 8:15 am to 2 pm:

One of my family members joined me after I requested an appointment. Can I still add them to my case? ⬇️

Once you receive the appointment, you cannot make any changes to family members, cancel or reschedule it.

I uploaded a wrong / unreadable document – can I replace it with the correct one? ⬇️

You can only replace a document on your file using the UNHCR online tool if you have not been interviewed yet and your registration process is incomplete.

To replace a document using the online portal:

  • Log in to the online tool and click on “My Documents” in your personal dashboard.
  • Check the list of documents uploaded and click ‘delete’ next to the document you want to remove.
  • You will be redirected to the document upload page and will be guided to upload another document.

Please note: You cannot delete a passport or any other ID document from which your basic biodata has been retrieved automatically!

I was unable to attend my registration appointment. What should I do? ⬇️

Please note that if you miss your appointment, please contact UNHCR by approaching the nearest UNHCR office or through the Infoline.

One of my family members is unable to come to the registration appointment. Do I still go with the rest of my family members? ⬇️

All your family members on your registration application must be present on your appointment date unless a family member has left Egypt. In case of any change in the family composition, please log in to UNHCR’s online tool, cancel your existing appointment and request a new appointment.

  • You will receive a new appointment notification within two weeks.

One of my family members is no longer in Egypt. How do I cancel their interview? ⬇️

You and your family members who are still in Egypt can attend the registration appointment and complete the process. Your absent family member will not be registered.

  • If your family member returns to Egypt and wants to be registered, they should create their own account and request an appointment.

Can I update my information online after I submit my application? ⬇️

You can log in to the UNHCR online tool and view your submitted information anytime.

After you submit your online request for a registration appointment

You CAN update for you and your family members:

  • Address in Sudan,
  • Address in Egypt,
  • Contact information,
  • Specific needs,
  • Upload additional documents.

You CANNOT update for you and your family members:

  • Personal information such as name, date of birth, national number, nationality, etc.
  • Photographs,
  • Add new family members (unless you request a new appointment),
  • You can never change the e-mail address you used for signing up.

Can I still access my account online after I receive my asylum-seeker certificate? ⬇️

When you complete your registration with UNHCR and obtain an asylum-seeker certificate, you will still be able to access your account, but your information will be ‘frozen’ in the online tool.

You can still log in and view what you submitted, but you will no longer be able to update any information except your contact information (phone number, WhatsApp number).

  • Any changes to your case, such as updates to your family composition or any other information recorded during an in-person interview with UNHCR, will not be reflected on your account.
