Middle East Scholars Program: LCC International University

What is LCC International University?

LCC International University is a Christian faith university based in Klaipeda, Lithuania providing American-style education, fully accredited, with English language instruction. Approximately two-thirds of the faculty come from Canada and the USA. The university is an accredited member of the CCCU (USA). LCC International University has around 650 students with 23% of them coming from Lithuania, and 73% coming from 53 countries in the world. The university has a full residential campus with two modern residence halls on campus that provide housing for almost 60% of the student body. What is the Middle East Scholars Program?

The priority for the Middle East Scholars Program is to assist refugee students by providing an opportunity to start or continue their BA or MA education at LCC International University. An intensive English program (if needed) and supplemental support systems are a part of the scholarship package.

Who can apply?

The application is open to refugee students (beneficiaries of temporary and international protection) of all nationalities currently living in Türkiye .

What academic programs can I apply to?

LCC offers academic programs/BAs in the following fields of study: Contemporary Communication, English Language & Literature, International Business Administration, International Relations and Development, Psychology & Theology

Criteria of refugee students who can apply to the scholarship: 

  • Registered by Turkish authorities with temporary (TP) or international protection (IP) status.

 

Documents required for the online application form: 

  • certificate showing the studies completed to date (official transcript or, if not available, provisional transcript) and associated grades;
  • National document proving the legal status as indicated above (only official Turkish identity documents will be accepted);
  • Certificate attesting knowledge of the English at a B1-C1 Level (TOEFL ITP and iBT; IELTS Academic; PTE Academic; PTE General Test; CPE or CAE; Duolingo). As part of your application you also will be asked to write an additional LCC essay.
  • Passport number, and expiration date if applicable
  • Valid and final Secondary Education (High school) Certificate* in original language
  • Official translations of your secondary education (high school) certificate and other documents
  • The Admissions office requires legalizing or certifying with an “Apostille” the originals of educational credentials.

*All applicants are required to provide an English proficiency test certificate. If you do not have one of the accepted certificates and wish to take a DuoLingo test, please write to [email protected] for a test voucher.

What is the deadline for the scholarship application and how can I apply?

Candidates must fill out the application form online by March 31, 2023.

Which expenses are covered by the scholarship?

Application fees, tuition, books, preparation courses, monthly stipend (e.g. food allowance), housing, health insurance, mentoring/psycho-social support, visa. Suitability for travel costs to Lithuania will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Is there an age limit for applicants?
There is no age limit for students to apply however, students who are 27 or above will not be considered for dormitory/campus housing.

Can applicants submit documents in any language?
No, the applicants should submit documents issued in English.

Is there room to improve one’s English if close to the required level?
Prospective students need to be proficient in English in order to be able to attend classes and sit exams successfully. For this reason, we require students to attest their knowledge of English language by writing an English proficiency exam. For students who qualify for the scholarship, extra language support will be provided upon enrollment to the University.

How will the application results be communicated?
Selected applicants will receive an email regarding the outcome of their application directly to the email address indicated in the application form by LCC University. The selection decision rests entirely with LCC and UNHCR does not participate in the selection process or counseling on decisions.

Can we travel to Lithuania with our family members/dependents?
No, the visa is only issued for the scholarship recipient.
