Reminder: Increased risk of landmines and unexploded ordnance during rainfall

📣This message is shared through UNHCR’s WhatsApp communication📣

Rainfall can displace landmines and unexploded objects, bringing them to the surface or moving them to new locations and increasing the risk of accidental exposure.

    Stay safe:

    • Avoid areas where explosions or hostilities have occurred.
    • Stay alert: Be cautious of suspicious objects, which may be hidden under debris or in areas where children may play, and other outdoor areas.
    • If you see an unknown object: (1) STOP, (2) do not approach, (3) do not touch, (4) call the Lebanese Mine Action Center at 05956143. Stay where you are or calmly follow the same route you came from.
    • Teach children about explosive safety: Remind them never to approach or touch unknown objects and to alert a trusted adult.
