Update on U.S. Resettlement Cases

  • The government of the United States has suspended its Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP) as of January 27, 2025 until further notice. This includes suspension of resettlement to the United States and the Welcome Corps private sponsorship program. Therefore, processing of the cases is significantly delayed. UNHCR will contact you in case there is an update about the status of the programme or your resettlement case.
  • This suspension affects both approved refugee travel and case processing. There will be no interviews or decisions on cases during suspension order.
  • Globally, all refugees in the USRAP regardless of their nationality are impacted by the suspension.

UNHCR is reviewing the situation and awaiting guidance from the U.S. State Department. We will share updates as soon as we have more information.

UNHCR urges caution against scams and exploitation.
