In November 2025, GSO announced that Syrians who are working in Lebanon need to obtain a legal residency based on sponsorship or work permit.
The deadline to comply with this decision has been extended from 30 September 2026 to 31 December 2026. Affected Syrians must obtain legal residency based on either sponsorship or a work permit by this date.
