OFFICIAL EXAMS 2026: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MEHE) announced that registration for the 2026 official examinations remains open until 15 May. Caregivers and students in Grade 9 and Grade 12 who have not yet completed registration are strongly encouraged to contact their school administration as soon as possible to receive guidance on the required procedures and documentation to register for exams. A recent Council of Ministers decision confirms that Syrian students and students of other nationalities can sit for the official examinations regardless of whether they hold legal residency in Lebanon, provided they can submit documents demonstrating their educational progression. For more details, contact your school and refer to the Council of Ministers decision.

In light of the exceptional circumstances, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and CERD, in partnership with UNICEF, are providing remote and digital learning solutions to ensure the safe continuity of education for all children.

All children — including refugees, asylum-seekers, and stateless children — have the right to education. UNHCR, together with UNICEF and UNESCO, advocates for access to quality and inclusive education for all children and youth living in Lebanon. The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MEHE) oversees both public and private education.

In Lebanon, English, French, and Arabic are taught from pre-school onward. For mathematics and science, English or French serve as the compulsory languages of instruction across all schools. Education is compulsory for children aged 3 to 14.

We invite refugee caregivers and youth to explore the tabs on this page for more information on access to Formal Basic Education, Tertiary Education, Technical Vocational Education and Training, and Scholarship Opportunities.
