Never give your Red Card or PIN code to anyone you do not trust!
Several refugees have recently had their cards stolen by fraudsters who pretend to offer their support in redeeming assistance at ATMs.
How do these fraudsters operate? After receiving your card and PIN code, they intentionally enter the wrong PIN code at the ATM and tell you the transaction failed. When returning your card, they swap it with a different individual’s card and later, without you knowing, they empty your card. This typically happens in the evening at ATMs that are not monitoring by humanitarian staff.
If you have been a victim of or are aware of fraud, please report it to WFP at 1526 or to UNHCR at 04726111 or email [email protected].
Check out UNHCR’s Help Lebanon page for more information on fraud.
