Considerations in country of asylum

At the moment, UNHCR is not arranging transportation or facilitating go-and-see visits to Syria. UNHCR is also not providing repatriation grants prior to return or following return.
This applies to all UNHCR Operations, including Romania.

UNHCR’s partner organization, the Romanian National Council for Refugees (CNRR), offers specific services, such as:

    • Legal counseling for asylum seekers and refugees.
    • Legal assistance in court procedures for asylum seekers.
    • Provision of country-of-origin information reports for court proceedings.
    • Counselling and integration assistance for accessing rights for beneficiaries of international protection, including specialized assistance for vulnerable groups.
    • Counselling, legal assistance and translation services for foreign citizens who have been taken into public custody or who have received a return decision.

Any asylum-seeker also has the right to be assisted by UNHCR.
