Technical and vocational education and training provide refugee children and youth with opportunities to learn and acquire specific technical skill sets.

1. What technical and vocational education and training is available in Lebanon? ⬇️
The Ministry of Education and Higher Education implements the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), which is a vocational program composed of education, training, and skills development relating to a wide range of occupational fields, production, services, and livelihoods.
In Lebanon, there are 158 public technical and vocational schools offering certified technical and vocational education at all levels: Brevet Professional (BP), Baccalaureate Technique (BT), Higher Technicians’ Diploma (TS), and Technical License (LT). At the end of each educational level, you will need to sit for an official exam.
2. Am I eligible to enroll in a public technical and vocational school? ⬇️
If you meet the eligibility criteria below, you can enroll in a public technical and vocational school:
- Aged between 13 and 21 years old
- Completed Grade 7
3. When can I enroll in a public technical and vocational school? ⬇️
Enrollment generally starts between September and December each year.
4. What are the required documents for enrolment in a public technical and vocational school? ⬇️
For the registration process, the following documents are required:
- Student’s identity card (National ID),
- Two passport-sized photos of the student,
- Original statement of achievement issued by the school covering the past two years or its copy,
- UNHCR certificate,
- Residency permit.
Please bring the above documents to the public technical and vocational school you wish to enroll during the registration period.
In case you cannot provide the above-required documents upon registration, you can still register and ask at the school administration about alternative documentation, as long as the required documents can be submitted before the date of the official exams.
5. Can my children make a transition from academic to technical and vocational education? ⬇️
Yes. If your children are between 13 and 21 years of age and have successfully completed Grade 7, they can transition into technical and vocational education.
To start this transition, you can directly approach any of the public technical and vocational schools to ask about enrollment and further details.
6. Can my children who lack a Grade 7 certification still benefit from technical and vocational education and training? ⬇️
If your children have not completed Grade 7 and above, they cannot enroll in public technical and vocational education.
However, they can still enroll in short non-formal certified vocational training programs in public technical schools or through expert vocational NGOs.
Additionally, the Ministry of Labor offers certified vocational training through various affiliated organizations, including the National Center for Vocational Training on the Dekwaneh TVET campus.
