What is the role of UNHCR in Lebanon?

UNHCR established its first office in Lebanon in 1964 and significantly expanded its presence following the start of the Syrian conflict in 2011.

As of 2025, UNHCR maintains a Country Office in Beirut, three Field Offices, one Case Processing Center, and a network of Community Centers to provide assistance to refugees, asylum-seekers, stateless persons and hosting Lebanese communities. UNHCR works closely with the Government of Lebanon, UN agencies, and national and international partners.

Where is UNHCR Lebanon located?

UNHCR maintains offices in Beirut, Zahle, and Tripoli and one Case Processing Center in Beirut. Please do not approach a UNHCR office or the Beirut Case Processing Center without an appointment.
