Important update for refugees on UNHCR's funding situation and circulating rumors about refugee camp closures.
We are aware of rumors circulating about the closure of Azraq and Za’atari camps. This information is not true and there are no plans to close either camp.
We would like to inform you that UNHCR’s global funding levels are less than previous years. This will lead to a reduction in some programmes and will change how we deliver our services in most of the countries we operate in, including Jordan. While we are aware that this decrease in funding will affect the services, we provide to you as refugees in Jordan during the course of this year and beyond, at this moment, we do not have the final information on these changes.
UNHCR remains fully committed to transparency and clear communication. Once any decisions are confirmed, we will share updates through our official channels, and with our partners and the refugee community.
We understand the difficulties in managing such a situation, but we urge you to always check information through UNHCR’s official communication platforms (Facebook, Help Site, and WhatsApp channel) and avoid acting on rumors.
Please remember that all of UNHCR’s services remain free of charge.
Important notice for all refugees in Jordan
We have become aware of a rumor claiming that new registration with UNHCR is now open. This is wrong.

Should any updates occur, UNHCR will communicate them directly through its official channels.
We strongly encourage you not to believe any rumours and to always verify information through UNHCR’s official communication platforms, including Facebook, WhatsApp, and the UNHCR Helpsite, to ensure you receive accurate and reliable updates.

Important update for all refugees regarding booking renewal appointments
UNHCR is pleased to announce that the automated IVR (Interactive Voice Response) system now allows you to book an appointment to renew your Asylum-Seeker Certificate.
Refugees living outside the camps with expired certificates, those expiring within a month, or those needing to add newborns should contact the UNHCR Helpline at 064008000 to book an appointment through the IVR.
Starting 01 September 2024, this will be the only way to book renewal appointments for refugees outside the camps.
It’s crucial to keep your Asylum-Seeker Certificate or Proof of Registration valid to avoid issues with accessing services like school enrollment, accessing health care in public hospitals, withdrawing cash assistance, or renewing your MOI Service Card.
Expired certificates may prevent you from accessing these services.
