What is “Know Your Rights”?

Know Your Rights is a 9-week legal education programme created and taught by the global law firm DLA Piper, currently present in 12 countries. The programme offers entirely virtual quality practical and theoretical training on different legal topics (labour law, real estate, entrepreneurship, education, access to healthcare, etc.).

The programme is delivered in Spanish and includes sessions dedicated to labour law, real estate, contracts (buying and selling, consumer etc.), access to the Spanish healthcare system, education, entrepreneurship, access to free legal advice in Spain, basic financial training, etc.

Since the purpose is to enable participants to resolve queries about legal issues which affect them personally, places are limited and new participants will not be able to join once the course has started.

What are the requirements to participate?

  • Being an asylum seeker or stateless person, having been given some kind of protection (statute, subsidiary protection or humanitarian reasons) or statelessness in Spain.
  • Being older than 18 years old.
  • Having an intermediate or advanced level of Spanish (a B2 level is recommended).
  • Residing in Spain.

Where and when is the training?

The training is given both in person in Madrid as well as virtually, allowing people resident in other provinces to benefit from the programme.

The programme takes place in the first six months of the year.
