Your rights
- Follow the asylum procedure in a language you understand
- Receive information about your status
- Free legal assistance before courts
- Stay in Slovenia and move within your municipality
- Accommodation in the Asylum Centre with basic items
- Education (mandatory for children under 15)
- Access to work after 3 months (if conditions are met)
- Emergency medical care
- Humanitarian assistance
- Monthly allowance (currently 18 EUR)
Your duties
- Respect Slovenian laws
- Respect officials and follow instructions
- Respond to official invitations and decisions
- Inform authorities if your address changes
- Submit all relevant documents
- Cooperate in identity checks
- Allow security checks in the Asylum Centre
- Undergo medical examinations if required
- Allow fingerprinting, photos, and recording
- Explain your asylum reasons clearly and truthfully
- Follow house rules and fire safety rules
- Provide relevant information about your situation
- Submit official decisions received from authorities
Your asylum seeker card
After applying, you will receive an asylum seeker card.
- It confirms your status
- It allows you to stay in Slovenia
- You can move within your municipality
You can leave your municipality only:
- With permission, or
- If you are an unaccompanied child
If you leave without permission:
- You may be stopped by the police
- You may be ordered to return
- Your allowance may be stopped
The card is valid until a decision is made.

In the Asylum Centre, you receive:
- Shelter
- Food
- Clothing
- Basic necessities

Your duties
- Respect Slovenian laws and regulations
- Inform authorities about important changes within 8 days, including:
- Income, financial support, or assets
- Education and recognition of qualifications
- Language or other exams
- Starting or ending a job
- Change of address or contact details
- Change of name or marital status
- Absence from Slovenia (more than 90 days)
- Obtaining another citizenship
Integration support
The Integration Division of the Government Office for Support and Integration of Migrants (UOIM) provides support.
You will be invited to sign an Integration Agreement. If you sign it, you will receive support from an integration counsellor.
You may receive:
- Accommodation in an integration house or other facilities
- Financial assistance (if living at a private address)
- A Slovenian society orientation course
- A Slovenian language course
- One-time payment for a language exam
- Coverage of education-related costs
- Translation of diplomas
- Recognition of qualifications (even without documents)
