UNHCR Iasi Unit Closure

UNHCR has decided to close its office in Iasi starting from 22 December 2023 but remains committed to supporting refugees from Ukraine in Romania.
The Iasi and Neamt counties will be covered by the UNHCR Suceava Field Office, and through partnerships with local actors such as FONSS/Nicolina Centre and CNRR.
Vaslui and Bacau counties will be under the area of responsibility of the UNHCR Galati Field Office.

In 2024, UNHCR will continue actively engaging with local actors through various protection coordination mechanisms. UNHCR will also support information provision and engage in protection monitoring in the four counties affected by the office closure (Iasi, Vaslui, Bacau and Neamt) and other forms of assistance and interventions through its programmes and those of partners.

UNHCR will maintain communications with the refugee community via its national hotline, through organizing focus group discussions and by maintaining its feedback and complaint mechanisms. All new information will be posted in a timely manner on our Telegram channel and the Help webpage.
