⚠️ All UNHCR and partner services are free of charge.
This includes registration, refugee status determination, resettlement, and complementary pathways.
Do not pay anyone who claims they can help you access UNHCR services, resettlement, scholarships, jobs, visas, or complementary pathways in exchange for money, gifts, or favours.
Be cautious when sharing personal information with individuals, organizations, or websites that claim to offer opportunities abroad.
Before you apply for an opportunity
Always verify information through official government, university, employer, or programme websites.
Some programmes may charge application fees, visa fees, or other official costs.
Before making any payment, make sure you understand:
- What the fee is for
- Who is requesting the payment
- How the payment should be made
Staying safe online
Be cautious of opportunities that:
- Promise unrealistic benefits or unusually high salaries
- Contain spelling or grammar mistakes
- Offer admission, scholarships, or jobs without reviewing your qualifications
- Pressure you to make a quick decision
- Request payment before providing information about the programme
- Use unofficial email addresses or websites
UNHCR, governments, and trusted organizations do not ask for payments through services such as PayPal, Wise, MoneyGram, Western Union, personal bank accounts, or personal checks.
We recommend you to use official websites when searching for jobs, scholarships, or migration opportunities.
Reporting fraud
If someone asks you for money or favours in exchange for UNHCR services or opportunities, report it to UNHCR immediately.
For information on how to report fraud, exploitation, or abuse, please visit the Complaints and Feedback page.
