Opportunity: Become a UNHCR Outreach Volunteer in Algiers
UNHCR is looking for a female Outreach Volunteer to support communication between refugees, asylum seekers, UNHCR, and partner organizations.
What will you do?
- Share important information from UNHCR and partners with community members
- Help refugees and asylum seekers understand available services
- Support vulnerable individuals in accessing assistance
- Identify and refer protection concerns to UNHCR and partners
- Participate in trainings and coordination meetings
Who are we looking for?
You should:
- Be a female refugee or asylum seeker
- Speak both English and Hausa
- Live in Algiers or nearby areas (e.g. Blida, Boumerdes, or Tipaza), as regular attendance at meetings, trainings, and outreach activities will be required.
- Be motivated to support your community
- Have good communication skills
- Be available, committed, and have a good relationship with the refugee and asylum seeking-community
- Be respectful, responsible, and able to keep information confidential
Important to know
Outreach Volunteers are not UNHCR staff and do not make decisions about assistance, registration, or resettlement. Their role is to share information, support referrals, and strengthen communication within the community.
