The Algerian Red Crescent

 

The Algerian Red Crescent (ARC) is a national humanitarian organization. In partnership with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), it provides medical and psychosocial assistance to refugees and asylum seekers registered with the UNHCR office in Algiers.


What services does the Algerian Red Crescent provide?

Orientation and support towards public hospitals: Refugees and asylum seekers have free access to public hospitals. The ARC provides guidance, information on available healthcare services, and, when necessary, a doctor may refer or accompany them to the most appropriate facility.


Confidential care for survivors of sexual violence: Provided through a specialized service, ensuring confidentiality, respect for the survivor’s will, and informed consent.


Psychological support, psychosocial assistance, and awareness campaigns.


Medical follow-up and guidance for pregnant women: To ensure proper prenatal and postnatal medical care.


Voluntary testing, follow-up, and treatment for HIV and other STIs: Provided through specialized health centers.


Vaccination and support for children.


Contribution to medical expenses: (consultations, medicines, medical tests), subject to prior approval by the ARC.
