What you need to know about UNHCR’s resettlement programme:

What you need to know about UNHCR’s resettlement programme:

  • Resettlement is an opportunity which can be provided to a very limited number of refugees, based on globally predefined criteria which are generally based on vulnerability. Globally, less than 1% of the world’s refugees benefit from resettlement. In Iran, available slots for resettlement are incredibly low.
  • UNHCR does not accept self-referrals or individual requests/applications of refugees for resettlement. Please note, UNHCR can only recommend a refugee for resettlement, but it is the resettlement country which makes the final decision, based on its own guidelines and criteria.
  • For further information, you can visit the help page website of UNHCR at: https://help.unhcr.org/iran/en/ (in English) and https://help.unhcr.org/iran/ (in Farsi) which also has the contact info of UNHCR offices in different cities of Iran. You can contact UNHCR’s reception numbers provided in these links in case you need protection support.
