Checking RST Status

If you have access to UNHCR’s Self-Service Portal and have checked your resettlement status, you will see whether you currently have an active resettlement case or no active resettlement case and a short summary of “what this means”.

Additional information to help you understand your current status can be found below.

NO ACTIVE RESETTLEMENT CASE

Your case is not currently being considered for resettlement.  UNHCR will contact you if we consider your case in the future.

This means UNHCR is not currently working on a resettlement case for you. We understand this is frustrating, but please remember that resettlement is not a right and most refugees are not resettled.  There are limited resettlement spaces available each year and UNHCR works to prioritize those most in need. If we do consider you for resettlement in the future, we will contact you to inform you. Please do not contact UNHCR to request resettlement. We will not respond to these requests.

Following careful consideration of your case, it was determined that your case is currently not eligible for resettlement.  UNHCR will contact you if we consider your case in the future.

This means UNHCR has assessed your case but has determined you do not currently meet resettlement criteria. This could be for a number of reasons, including unresolved credibility concerns, limited vulnerability or protection needs justifying resettlement, or availability of other solutions. We understand this is frustrating, but please remember that resettlement is not a right and most refugees are not resettled. There are limited resettlement spaces available each year and UNHCR works to prioritize those most in need. The resettlement country has rejected your resettlement application. Your case is not currently being considered for resettlement. UNHCR will contact you if we consider your case in the future.

This means your case was submitted to a resettlement country for consideration, but the resettlement country did not accept your application. There are many reasons why a resettlement country may have rejected your case, including due to security concerns, they felt there were inconsistencies in the information you provided, they did not feel you have a strong refugee claim, etc. Resettlement countries have the final decision on who they will accept to come to their country, and they do not always inform UNHCR or refugees of the reasons why a case was not accepted. If UNHCR determines that your case requires a re-submission in the future, we will contact you to inform you.  Please do not contact UNHCR to request re-submission.  We will not respond to these requests.

Following careful consideration of your case, it was determined that your case is currently not eligible for resettlement re-submission.  UNHCR will contact you if we consider your case in the future.

This means after your case was submitted to a resettlement country and the resettlement country chose not to accept your resettlement case, UNHCR conducted a new assessment to determine if you should be re-submitted to another country. At this time, UNHCR has assessed that you are not eligible for re-submission to another country.  This could be because the issues that caused the rejection from the first country still exist or because, after one rejection, UNHCR needs to prioritize other individuals in need for the limited resettlement spaces available. If UNHCR determines that your case requires a re-submission in the future, we will contact you to inform you.  Please do not contact UNHCR to request re-submission.  We will not respond to these requests.

Your resettlement case is closed following your departure to the resettlement country.

This means you have departed for a resettlement country.  As you have left Indonesia, your case is now closed with us

Please do not contact UNHCR for updates on your resettlement status.  We will not respond to these requests.

If there is a change in your case composition (newborn, marriage, divorce, split family, bio-data change), please promptly inform UNHCR via the KOBO form and choose only one of the inquiry topics relevant to your situation under the heading “Your concern”: (1) Newborn Registration, (2) Biodata Change, (3) Case Merge / Separation and (4) Contact Details Update.

Please be patient as resettlement countries have a number of assessments that they must undertake before they make a decision on a case. Some resettlement countries may also interview you and in such case, you will be contacted by UNHCR, resettlement country or partners regarding the interview arrangements. Once a decision is made, you will be contacted by either UNHCR or the resettlement country. Please do not contact UNHCR for updates. We will not respond to these requests.
