Rights and obligations of a Status Holder

The officially recognized stateless persons in Georgia (stateless status holders) enjoy rights, freedoms and obligations equal to those of the citizens of Georgia with the exception of a membership and participation in political associations, right to vote or be elected, and to be employed in public service.

  • Status holders will receive a residence permit and an identification document for a three-year period;
  • Upon request, a status holder will also receive a travel document (passport) to travel abroad;
  • Status holder has the right to apply for Georgian citizenship after -10 years of a lawful and consecutive residence in Georgia.
