UNHCR remains resolutely committed to supporting all affected people in Ukraine and countries in the region. UNHCR is working with the authorities, UN and other partners in Ukraine and neighbouring countries, as well as providing humanitarian assistance wherever necessary and practicable.
UNHCR is also working with governments in the region, calling on them to keep borders open to those seeking safety and protection. We have also stepped up our operations and capacity in Ukraine and neighbouring countries.

What is Australia’s response to the situation in Ukraine?
The Government of Australia has announced that it will prioritise the processing of visa applications from Ukrainian nationals, particularly for those with a connection to Australia.

I am a Ukrainian national in Australia needing assistance with accommodation or financial support. What should I do?
If you are a Ukrainian national in Australia and concerned about access to accommodation and financial support, you may wish to contact a Humanitarian Settlement Program (HSP) service provider in the state or territory in which you are located. Read a list of HSP providers on the Australian Government’s website.
The Australian Federation for Ukrainian Organisations (AFUO) also provides assistance to newly arrived Ukrainian nationals. Read more on the Australian Federation for Ukrainian Organisations website.
