Digital skill development opportunity for refugee youth

    We are pleased to invite refugee youth to register for free for the IBM SkillsBuild online certificate programmefacilitated by University of the People (UoPeople)! This programme, with certificates in cybersecurity and data analytics, allows participants to gain professional expertise and earn recognized credentials designed by industry experts at IBM. Upon completion, students earn up to 12 credits that can be applied toward a UoPeople undergraduate degree programme. UoPeopleis a fully online accredited university based in the United States. 

    To register for the programme, free of charge, refer to the following instruction.   

    • When/how to register: Follow this link to register for the programme. There are a limited number of vouchers available. If you would like to participate, we encourage you to register as soon as possible. 
    • Who is eligible:Participants must be proficient in English language and have completed upper secondary school. 
    • Averagetime to completethe programme: As little as 2 months, self-paced, 100% online. 
    • Cost: There is no cost to register or participate in the programme.

      Institut 2iE in Burkina is launching its programme in Bachelor and Masters scholarships under Mastercard Foundation. Refugees are encouraged to apply.

      CALL for APPLICATIONS: Lighting Career Path – career counseling for university students

        The Lighting Career Path Program is a 17-week online career guidance and professional development certificate program designed to help refugee and Rwandan university students build strong, future-ready careers. Managed and monitored by Light4Refugee and delivered by trainers from leading global organisations, this program will equip participants with the skills, confidence, and networks they need to succeed in today’s competitive and evolving world.

        Eligibility

        To apply, you must:

        • Be a refugee student currently enrolled in a university or a recent graduate, or
        • Be a Rwandan student studying at a university, or a recent graduate.
        • Participants should be prepared to engage fully in the program from start to finish

        Throughout the program, here are 5 main things students can expect from the Lighting Career Path Program:  

        • Personalized Mentorship: You will receive one-on-one guidance from experienced professionals who will support you in discovering your career path, strengthening your confidence, and setting clear, achievable goals.
        • Career Skills Development: You will participate in hands-on workshops focused on CV/resume writing, interview preparation, networking, and professional communication to ensure you are job-ready.
        • Labour Mobility Opportunities: You will gain support in understanding and accessing opportunities beyond your immediate location and country, including internships, remote work, and cross-border professional pathways, where possible.
        • Professional Networking: You will connect with employers, global organisations, and career mentors who can open doors to internships, employment, and professional collaborations.
        • Career Planning & Employment Support: You will receive step-by-step guidance on career planning, internship and job searching, strong application preparation, and a confident transition from university to the professional world.

        For Clarity: The Career Guidance Cohort will be offered free of charge, and no participants will be required to pay any fees. The program will be conducted entirely online and structured with ample flexibility to accommodate participants’ commitments.

        WEBINAR: Crafting strong graduate school applications – 10 December – 15h00

          Are you looking to apply for a scholarship to continue your studies and pursue a master’s degree? Are you trying to understand what are the requirements and interested to learn how to craft a strong application?

          Co-hosted with Light4Refugee and facilitated by Ruth Nyabuto, experienced Rhodes Alumni and contributor to the Refugee-Led Research Hub, UNHCR Rwanda is organizing a webinar on crafting strong application documents for graduate studies and scholarships.

          The webinar will take place on 10 December 2025 at 15h00 Kigali time. You will learn about the ins and outs of applications, which documents are required, how to strengthen your application, etc. This knowledge will be shared by the experts of Light4Refugee and facilitated by Ruth Nyabuto. The team will be available for all your questions.

          CALL for APPLICATIONS: UNIV’R scholarship to Sciences Po University

            We are pleased to inform you that the call for applications for the 5th cohort of the UNIV’R Programme (Sciences Po Paris) is now open from 28 November 2025 to 1 February 2026. The programme offers fully funded scholarships for refugees to pursue a two-year master’s degree (in English or French) at Sciences Po Paris, beginning August/September 2026.

            The eligibility criteria for this cohort remain unchanged from last year. Applicants must:

            • Be refugees individually recognized by UNHCR or by a State authority;
            • Be currently residing in a first country of asylum outside the European Union (resettled refugees are not eligible);
            • Hold at least a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study;
            • Have a minimum B2 level in English and/or French;
            • Be no older than 35 years

            In addition, Sciences Po Paris has specific academic requirements. Candidates must provide:

            • Academic transcripts;
            • Academic recommendation letters;
            • Evidence of a good GPA.

            Call for Applications: Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of Global Health Equity – Master of Science in Global Health Delivery Program, Academic Year 2026/2027.

              The University of Global Health Equity (UGHE), in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation through the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, invites applications for the Master of Science scholarship in Global Health Delivery for the 2026–2027 academic year.
