Residence Permits
Residence permits for temporary protection that expired on 31 December 2024 can be renewed until 4 March 2026. To renew your permit, you must apply for it at the Questura (police headquarters) of your place of residence. When applying, the permit can also be converted into a work permit, depending on the activity carried out.
Recognition of qualifications of health and social care professionals
Renewed until 31 December 2025 the possibility for Ukrainian citizens (who lived in Ukraine before 24 February 2022) to work in Italy as health and social care professionals by presenting the European Qualifications Passport for Refugees (EQPR).
Assistance & Welcoming
Those who receive their residence permit after 1 February 2025 will not be able to benefit from the economic contribution of €300 per month for a maximum of three months, previously provided for temporary protection holders. For those who have received their residence permit before 31 January 2025, the economic contribution can be requested, through the dedicated platform, by 20 February 2025.
By 15 January 2025, the Civil Protection Department had the task of mapping the people accommodated in diffuse reception and in other Civil Protection structures. Those who are still in need of public assistance after 31 January 2025 will be able to extend their reception measures until 30 June 2025, and thus remain in the Civil Protection structure they are in until that date. After this date, reception will still be guaranteed throughout the national territory but in the different structures of the Reception and Integration System (Sistema di Accoglienza e Integrazione – SAI) or in governmental or temporary reception centres activated by the competent Prefectures.
Those who no longer need care will receive an extraordinary contribution of 250 euro per person (reduced by 20% for families with more than 3 persons and 30% for families with more than 5 persons, with a maximum of 1,200 euro per family). This contribution will be disbursed upon leaving the facility, if it occurs by 31 January 2025. Applications must be submitted via the already active platform for the economic contribution.
