Mental Health Support

It is very difficult to live in Indonesia as a refugee.  Assistance and opportunities are limited and refugees stay in Indonesia for years until they find a solution. As a result, many refugees experience stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental health struggles.

There are two ways to access mental health support:

  1. Approach PUSKESMAS where psychologists are available. Psychologists are primarily available in PUSKESMAS in the subdistricts of Jakarta and Depok. Please consult this List of Puskesmas where psychologists are available. Please note that PUSKESMAS is a primary healthcare service.  These costs are minimal and are not covered by UNHCR.
  2. Alternatively, you can access our Free Online Counseling Program for Refugees, in collaboration with Arsanara. This program is a safe and supportive space for independently living refugees and asylum seekers in Indonesia who are registered with UNHCR. It allows you to speak with professional psychologists. Whether you’re facing worries, anxiety, sadness, homesickness, family concerns, or cultural challenges, or if you simply need someone to discuss your hopes and plans for the future, this program offers confidential and private sessions.  Interpreter support is available as needed.
