Temporary Protection Status Extended

The Hungarian government has extended the validity of temporary protection cards until 4 March 2026, in line with the EU’s decision.

If you have temporary protection, your card is now valid until 4 March 2026, regardless of the date displayed. No action is required from you, as the validity extension is automatic.

If your card’s validity is questioned by employers or service providers, inform them of the extension and provide a reference to the law. You can also request an official certificate from the National Directorate-General for Aliens Policing (NDGAP) confirming the validity of your status.

The legal reference for this extension is Section 5(3) of Government Decree 86/2022.
