News: Reopening of referrals to the UK Resettlement Scheme (UKRS)

The UK Government has announced the reopening of referrals to the UK Resettlement Scheme (UKRS) and the introduction of new safe and regular pathways for refugees.

UNHCR has been allocated a limited quota to refer cases under the UKRS for consideration by the UK government. In this regard, UNHCR will identify refugees in need of resettlement from specific countries, which will include refugees of different nationalities.

Please note: There is no application process for the UKRS. Individuals who may be considered for resettlement are identified by UNHCR in their country of asylum based on their protection needs and in line with UNHCR’s resettlement criteria. UNHCR in the UK is not involved in this process. If you are a refugee and have protection concerns, you should contact the UNHCR office in the country where you have sought asylum.

Palestinians will be identified and referred to the UK government under the UKRS by the International Refugee Assistance Project (IRAP), and UNHCR is not involved in this process. For further information, please visit IRAPs’ website: What is the Palestinian resettlement program to the UK? – IRAP.
