APPLYING FOR ASYLUM IS A RIGHT, NOT A BUSINESS
If someone offers to speed up your asylum procedure or appointment or promises you preferential access to social benefits for asylum seekers or refugees in exchange for money, BE CAREFUL! It could be a FRAUD.
Hustlers use tricks to ask for money in exchange of a “faster” procedure. These fraudulent services are offered through various channels, including social networks, WhatsApp or Telegram groups and unofficial telephone numbers.
These behaviors may be illegal in Spain and carry legal consequences for the hustlers.
There are agencies or law firms that can legally provide services related to the asylum procedure, but make sure that they are in possession of a professional legal license and that they do not charge abusive prices.
Remember!
- The services provided by the Authorities, the Police, UNHCR and NGOs are FREE OF CHARGE.
- The entire asylum procedure is free of charge, including the appointment to apply for asylum.
- For your safety, do not share personal information or documentation, and specially avoid doing so through social media, WhatsApp, or other virtual means.
- If you decide to use paid professional services, always ask for an invoice.
- Always verify information through official channels: Visit UNHCR’s refugee information Portal.
