People arriving from Ukraine may be entitled to temporary protection in Sweden. In particular, you may be eligible for Temporary Protection in Sweden if you left Ukraine on 24 February 2022 or later and you are a:
- citizen of Ukraine who used to live in Ukraine before 24 February 2022,
- foreigner or stateless person in Ukraine who had refugee or other international protection status or a permanent residence permit in Ukraine, or
- family member of any of the above.
Under Swedish rules, the following persons are considered as “family member”:
- a spouse or partner,
- underage unmarried child
- other close relatives who lived in the same household and were the dependent of the Ukrainian citizen, or of the foreigner or stateless person who had refugee status or other international protection status in Ukraine.
If you have entered Sweden from 30 October 2021 to 23 February 2022 and you have continued to stay in Sweden after entry, you will also be eligible for temporary protection if you comply with any of the requirements indicated above.

People who do not qualify for Temporary Protection
