The Economic Mobility Pathways Project (EMPP)
With support from the Government of Canada, the EMPP is being piloted in Rwanda. The project will target admission to Canada, refugees based on their qualifications/work experience/skills and training for different job opportunities with different employers. Successful applicants are admitted as permanent residents, which provides them rights and access to a variety of social programs, including health and education. Permanent residents can apply for citizenship after three years in Canada. Through the EMPP, Canada offers administrative flexibilities to refugees accessing these economic immigration programs and initially targets admitting 500 skilled refugees and their families from all over the world.
Eligibility Criteria to Participate in this Project
There are different streams for permanent economic immigration to Canada based on different combinations of occupation, skills level and location. This diversity makes it impossible to generate one profile listing qualifications required for successful candidates.
The minimum criteria for eligibility: are as follows:
- Must be a registered refugee
- Must meet the eligibility requirements of an economic program stream, such as
- Work experience relevant to the job
- Proficiency in English or French at CLB Level 4 or higher
- Completion of secondary school education (high school)
How to Apply
