The Ministry in Charge of Emergency Management (MINEMA), in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Arts (MoYA), informs all refugee youth living in Rwanda who already have ongoing business projects and wish to grow them, to urgently register for the competition called “Business Competition & Award among Youth Refugees in Rwanda.”
Eligibility requirements:
- Must be a refugee;
- Must be between 16–30 years old;
- The business must be profit-generating and have capital below 500,000 RWF;
- The Company/Cooperative must be legally registered (with documents issued by the Rwanda Cooperative Agency (RCA), the District, the Sector, or the Rwanda Development Board (RDB)).
NOTE: For a Cooperative to be allowed to participate, at least 70% of its members must be youth. For entrepreneurs without official legal documents who wish to participate, they must provide a confirmation letter from a partner organization or camp manager.
- The business must not have received financial support through YouthConnekt or any other donor.
- Must have an account in a Bank or Microfinance Institution/SACCO.
Application file should include:
1.A letter addressed to the Camp Manager;
2. Description of the project;
3.A completed application form;
4.A copy of the registration document from RCA or RDB, or confirmation from the camp manager or partner organization.
Where to apply:
- For refugees living in refugee camps: application forms will be available at the Camp Manager’s office.
- For refugees living in towns: application forms will be available at the UNHCR Office in Kigali (Nyarutarama) or at the Community Center in Gikondo.
The completed application file must be submitted to the UNHCR Office in Nyarutarama or sent via email to: [email protected].
NB: Registration will start on 18th September 2025 and will close on 30th September 2025.
Women and Persons with Disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.
Important:
- Winners will receive financial support to strengthen their businesses.
- Only 120 outstanding projects will be funded.
- Registration is completely free; no money or other items are required.
