Misinformation on visa/immigration programs to third countries

UNHCR Iran has received reports of false information circulating online and among forcibly displaced communities. The misinformation claims that UNHCR is registering individuals for immigration to third countries. Please be advised that this is not true. Do not trust this rumor!

UNHCR is not involved in any visa/immigration programs for any country.

Please do not approach UNHCR seeking visa/immigration programs.

UNHCR Iran does not conduct registration, does not decide whether someone is a refugee and does not issue documentation. These are the responsibilities of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Beware of fraudsters who falsely claim to be affiliated with UNHCR and make false promises regarding visa/immigration programs. These fraudsters may reach out to you in person or through messages, calls, emails, mobile applications or social media.

Do not pay these fraudsters any money and do not share any personal information and documentation with them. Instead, report these fraudsters to UNHCR and the police. All complaints to UNHCR are confidential.

Please only rely on official government/embassy channels to receive accurate information regarding visa/immigration programs.
