If you are a refugee or asylum-seeker in Sudan, please see the below information about services and assistance currently available to you in Sudan:
Important Information, December 16th 2024: UNHCR Sudan is not involved in processing US Welcome Corps applications and UNHCR is unable to provide updates or influence outcomes.
Are registration and documentation services currently active?
Commissioner of Refugees (COR) and UNHCR are working to restore registration and documentation services in the states where the security situation permits. Where services resume, information will be shared through the mass information and community structures closest to you. While contacting COR or UNHCR in person or over the phone, please indicate your individual number or household number indicated on the documents issued to you during registration. If in need of registration services, please carry documents you can use to identify yourself, if available.
How can I get cash assistance from UNHCR?
We are currently unable to provide cash assistance in Sudan due to the closure of banks and the overall safety situation in the country, which creates dangers around giving and receiving cash for those carrying it.
However, we continue to work with partners to ensure alternative ways to deliver cash to eligible refugees in safety and dignity.
Please remember that eligibility for cash assistance is determined according to different social and economic conditions and that, in the current situation, many more refugees need cash assistance.
Please keep your nearest office updated on your situation through the helplines, although it will not guarantee that you will receive cash support.
