The Organization for Aid to Refugees (OPU) is a non-governmental, non-profit humanitarian organization that has been helping refugees and migrants in the Czech Republic since 1991. OPU provides free legal and social counselling, education programs for the public and other activities to support migrants’ integration.
The Ombudsman in Czechia protects people from unfair treatment by authorities and addresses discrimination, including based on sexual orientation or gender identity. LGBTIQ+ individuals can seek support and justice from the Ombudsman. Additionally, the Ombudsman collaborates with non-governmental organizations to support the LGBTIQ+ community.
AraArt is a non-profit organization providing relevant information and legal assistance. AraArt has particular expertise in working with LGBTIQ+ persons who identify as ethnically Roma. They can also provide assistance and support in handling incidents of discrimination against LGBTIQ+ persons, including refugees and asylum-seekers.
Organization Rozkoš bez rizika (Bliss without Risk) provides support and advice to sex workers, including LGBTIQ+ refugees and asylum-seekers. It focuses on health and access to social services, provides legal aid and many other services.
As the organizer of the annual Prague Pride festival, Prague Pride also runs various projects throughout the year to support and empower LGBTIQ+ individuals. Prague Pride can also provide support to refugees and asylum-seekers.
Trans*parent focuses on the rights and well-being of transgender individuals. They can navigate you in Czechia towards resources and support that can help you. They create a safe space for transgender and non-cis persons, organize support groups for adults and teenagers and offer individual psychological, social and legal counselling free of charge or organise discussions, events and meetings both within the community and externally.
Czech AIDS Help Society (Česká společnost aids pomoc) supports HIV-positive individuals. Their work includes HIV/AIDS prevention, free anonymous testing and counselling, and social services like “Dům světla” (House of Light), which provides shelter and care.
