UNHCR works in Tajikistan to support the government in ensuring quality asylum procedures, resolving and preventing new cases of statelessness, and protecting the rights of refugees, asylum-seekers, and stateless people in line with international law and standards.
UNHCR works closely with NGO partners to monitor access to asylum procedures, support the integration of refugees, and help stateless people confirm their legal status, access basic rights, and apply for nationality.
If you need help applying for asylum, if your asylum application has been rejected, or if you are stateless and have never received identity documents (such as a Tajikistani identity card) or still hold an old USSR passport, UNHCR partners can assist you.
