Key messages on the second stage of acquisition of nationality under Presidential Decree No 13 of 2026.

Following the registration of your application by the Civil Affairs Directorate, you and your family members included in the application will be called for an in-person interview. During the interview, the information you submitted will be verified, photographs and fingerprints of you and your family members will be taken.

The first interview invitations for the interviews have been published on the official Facebook page of the General Directorate of Civil Affairs (https://www.facebook.com/share/1HLKGcc825/?mibextid=wwXIfr).

Please follow the page regularly for updates on interview dates, as additional interviews will be scheduled in the future. You can also check the status of your application through the Civil Affairs Application available via this link.

To check your interview date, you will need your application number, which was given to you when the application was submitted.

You have two easy ways to check your interview date:

  • Option 1 — Use the Civil Affairs App:
  • Download the app using this link shared on the Directorate’s Facebook page
  • Open the app and tap “Nationalization Requests”
  • Enter the receipt number you received during Stage 1
  • If your interview appointment has already been scheduled, the date will appear when you enter your application number. While, if the appointment has not yet been scheduled, it will show (in the application status) that it is still pending scheduling.

You do not need to create an account to check your interview date. You can access this directly.

  • Option 2 — Check the Official Facebook Page:

Visit the General Directorate of Civil Affairs Facebook page and look for the post listing interview dates.

Yes, all family members included in your application, including children, must be present at the interview. Your family members who are abroad and were included in your application will be able to conduct their interviews once they arrive in Syria; however, they must attend the interview in Damascu

Note: For individuals who submitted their applications at the Application Reception Centre in Deir ez-Zor Governorate, your interview date, time and location will be announced at a later stage by the Directorate of Civil Affairs.

It is important that you and your family attend your scheduled interview. However, if you or a family member are unable to attend due to a valid reason, the Directorate of Civil Affairs will reschedule your interview for another date.  

You should continue to check both platforms regularly for updates. If your application number has not yet appeared, it may be included in a future list of interview appointments.

No. The interview is free of charge. If anyone asks you to pay a fee to schedule or attend an interview, please report it to the relevant authorities or inform UNHCR partners’ lawyers, who can guide you through the process.

Important Reminders

  • The whole family must attend the interview together at the designated center for fingerprinting and personal photographs.
  • Keep your Stage 1 receipt safe, you will need the receipt number to check your date.
  • This is only the first batch of interviews, more interview lists will be announced. If your application number is not on this list yet, stay tuned for upcoming announcements.
