Panamanian Red Cross

The Panamanian Red Cross works as a partner of UNHCR in a Livelihoods and Local Integration Program for Refugees in Panama.

What services do they offer?

The program is developed under UNHCR partnership and offers multipurpose cash assistance to cover part of the minimum basic needs (food, education, housing, health, among others).

Psychosocial assistance is provided as an important part of the resilience development process for people of concern who go through situations of grief when they lose their livelihoods, face constant displacement, lose family members, and everything they managed to build in their countries of origin. This work goes hand in hand with the follow-up of each of the cases attended to in order to maintain support during local integration processes and minimize vulnerabilities.

The Panamanian Red Cross also promotes initiatives on gender-based violence (GBV) prevention to empower refugee women and asylum seekers.
