What is the registration process?
Registration is the process by which the PC-MOI staff interview you and collect basic information relevant to your identity and asylum claim. This includes basic biodata (name, age, marital status etc.), information about your asylum request including the reason of flight and fear of return, biometric data (fingerprint, IRIS scan and pictures), information about your family structure, socio-economic data (education, profession etc.). The registration process also includes information necessary for security clearance and results with the issuance of identity documents.
What type of documents would I receive after completing the registration process with PC-MOI?
- Follow up card is immediately issued upon registration, valid for 3 months and renewable, pending your security clearance.
- Once your case is reviewed and the decision is taken to recognize you as a refugee, you are issued a Refugee Card or follow up card respectively.
- Syrians who arrived before 2019 will receive “Personal Identification Card” valid for one year in line with the National Security Council Decision No. 9 2019.
Can all Syrians be registered with PC-MOI?
Yes, all Syrians registered with UNHCR can be registered with PC-MOI. This includes Syrians who arrived to Iraq after April 2019
Should I bring all my family members for the registration interview?
Yes, it’s mandatory to bring all your family members who wish to be registered during the registration interview.
I have a newborn, how can I register him/her on my case with PC-MOI?
First, please issue a birth-related document. If you live in Baghdad, you can visit the PC-MOI office to take an appointment or call the following number 📞07714187046. If you live outside Baghdad, you may call the same number and inform them about your case, so you are informed during the soonest PC-MOI mission to your area of residence.
