Care Centers for Migrants and Refugees (CAPMiR)

The Attention Centers for Migrants and Refugees (CAPMiR) are units created to assist you in Guatemala. They are part of a partnership led by the Government of Guatemala in coordination with UN agencies, including UNHCR. Together with our partners, we manage five centers nationwide.

Services

  • Information and orientation: about rights and services in Guatemala.
  • Protection: specialized care or referral, including the process of recognition of refugee status.
  • Basic medical assistance: pre-hospital care and basic medicines.
  • Psychological care: psychological first aid and emotional support.
  • Attention to children: safe and friendly spaces where they can rest from the trip and play.
  • Internet and calls: including phone chargers so you can stay connected.
  • Water and hygiene: drinking water, safe toilets and personal hygiene items.
  • Food: nutritious food kits.

  1. Guatemala
    • Opening hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 – 15:00.
  2. Petén
    • Address: 6a Avenida, Zona 2, Nueva Terminal de Buses, Santa Elena.
    • Hours of operation: Monday to Friday 08:00 a 16:30 horas.  Saturday de 08:00 16.00.  Sunday, 08:00 a 12:00
  3. Chiquimula
    • Address: Km 233, Highway to Honduras, Agua Caliente Border.
    • Hours of operation: Monday to Friday, 9:00 – 15:00.
  4. Izabal
    • Address: Frontera El Cinchado, next to La Bendición gas station.
    • Office hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 – 16:00.
  5. Huehuetenango
