Sexual exploitation and abuse are situations in which humanitarian workers abuse their position of power or the trust of refugees, asylum seekers, or migrants in order to obtain sexual favors in return.
Humanitarian workers are PROHIBITED from:
π« Having sexual relations with anyone under 18 years of age, regardless of whether there is consent.
π« Offering money, employment, goods, or services in exchange for sexual relations.
π« Offering humanitarian assistance (for example, food, clothing, or shelter) in exchange for sexual favors.
π« Engaging in any sexual relationship carried out through force or intimidation, or even when there is apparent consent, if that consent is obtained by taking advantage of the personβs vulnerable situation.
π« Engaging in any sexual relationship with people to whom they are providing assistance.
π« In general, any act or sexual advance requested by a humanitarian worker in exchange for assistance, the provision of services, or inclusion in support programs.
π¨ All of these acts are prohibited, even if they claim the victim consented.
If you were a victim of sexual exploitation or sexual abuse, or if you know someone who was, report it! Send a message to [email protected].
When you make a report:
β
Your safety will always be taken into account.
β
The person you inform will advise you and help you with any immediate needs related to safety, protection, health, and legal guidance.
β

π¨ Remember!
Acts of sexual exploitation and abuse committed against you are NEVER your fault.
Your report will be CONFIDENTIAL.
Reporting an incident will not prevent you from receiving assistance from humanitarian organizations.
