? Supporting Refugee Children’s Access to Education

UNHCR Bulgaria is proud to support a campaign aimed at facilitating school enrolment for refugee children in Harmanli, Plovdiv, and Burgas for the 2025/2026 school year.

Building on past successful cooperation, UNHCR and the Ministry of Education jointly organized local coordination meetings with school principals, regional education authorities, and NGOs. These meetings focused on addressing operational and logistical questions and strengthening collaboration ahead of the new school year.

? The meetings were hosted at our Compass Protection and Inclusion Centres, providing a space to exchange ideas and present available support services. Together, we aim to ensure every child has access to education and the support they need.

? Just Released: AGD Participatory Assessment 2024

What are the real challenges refugees face in Bulgaria today? How do they navigate work, housing, and financial systems? What support do they need most?

UNHCR Bulgaria’s latest AGD Participatory Assessment dives into these questions, based on direct conversations with 98 refugees and asylum seekers in Sofia and Plovdiv.

This year’s focus: socio-economic and financial inclusion—a critical lens for understanding integration and shaping better support.
