Association Big and Small Dreams House (‘Dreamhouse’) is a new refugee-led organization founded in early 2024 by Ukrainian refugee women and participating in the 2025-26 Regional Refugee Response Plan in Bulgaria. The centre is staffed by six Ukrainian refugees: a psychologist who provides trauma support, speech therapy, and family mediation; a music therapy specialist; an English language teacher; a Ukrainian language teacher; a gymnastics teacher; and a teacher for early childhood development activities.
Dreamhouse is committed to addressing the mental health needs of refugee children and their caregivers. They recognize that the caregivers’ experiences of fleeing from Ukraine often impact their children, making interventions for caregivers equally crucial. The organization’s mental health services address diverse needs and enhance well-being. For children, services include diagnostics, tailored programs, group art therapy, individual sand therapy and speech therapy to improve cognitive functionality and coordination. Family-focused services offer individual and group psychotherapeutic consultations and psychological counselling for caregivers as well as family mediation. Adolescents facing difficult situations receive specialized support. All of these activities support children and families in building resilience and fostering emotional well-being.
