Are you afraid to return to your country?
You have the right to seek asylum in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The UNHCR Help page for Bosnia and Herzegovina provides essential information on the asylum procedure and international protection in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is primarily addressed to asylum-seekers and refugees in the first place.
Refugees are individuals who have fled their countries to escape conflict, violence, or persecution and have crossed an international border to find safety. They are defined and protected by international law and must not be expelled or returned to situations where their life and freedom are at risk.
In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the authorities determine whether the circumstances qualify you as a refugee. This is done through a process known as refugee status determination.
During this process, after you have sought asylum and while awaiting the outcome of your application, you will be referred to as an asylum-seeker and should be protected.
