Livelihoods and Economic Inclusion Opportunities

UNHCR Syria together with partners and stakeholders, works to provide livelihood opportunities and improve the economic conditions for the most vulnerable by increasing self-reliance and their capacity to shape their own futures.

For queries relating to any of the services listed below, please check the community centre closest to your area of residence taking into account the limited scope of services delivered through community centers which may not be also available throughout the year.


Support to Micro and Small Businesses.

  1. Seed-funding for micro and small business projects.
  2. Can be provided in-kind (non-financial) or through cash transfers.
  3. Businesses can be based from home or at external premises.
  4. Requires successful completion of an entrepreneurship course (at community centres) and an approved business proposal.

Entrepreneurship and business development training.

Tailored programmes to empower individuals to plan and design successful business projects, feasibility studies, and improved understanding of market demands and dynamics.


Agricultural support and rural livelihoods

  1. Assistance provided to support affected farmers and livestock breeders in rural areas
  2. Agricultural-related inputs include livestock (such as poultry, bees and small ruminants such as sheep), ancillary inputs and supplies (such as coops, hives, fodder, veterinary drugs), and training for agricultural skills.

Facilitating access to financial services.

Support affected communities in accessing essential financial services, including microfinance banks such as The First Microfinance Bank and Al-Wataniya Microfinance Bank.


Rehabilitation of key Social, Productive and Economic Infrastructure.

Improve access to basic services through community and infrastructure projects such as markets, irrigation networks, schools, vocational training centres, bakeries and mills.


Mapping of Livelihood and Employment Opportunities.

Connecting unemployed individuals with available job opportunities relevant to specific skill-sets from the private and non-profit sectors.


Mapping of Technical and Vocational Training Opportunities.

Identifying and connecting available training opportunities to individuals with suitable profiles and skills.
