Rules for Foreign Workers

If you work in Malaysia under the foreign workers scheme there are some rules that you must follow:

  • Family members are not allowed to come with you or live in Malaysia
  • You must not work as front liner (customer service/ sales. For example, you cannot be wait staff in a restaurant). Doing so breaches Rule 39b of the Immigration Regulations 1963 of not ‘Working or undertaking activities that are contrary to the conditions of the issuance of a pass or visa’.
  • Change of employers or employment sectors is not allowed
  • Marriage is prohibited with local or foreign citizen
