How to report fraud or corruption

What is fraud?

Fraud is any act, omission, or manipulation of a fact with the intent to deceive for personal gain or for a third party’s benefit.

Don’t be fooled! Don’t fall for false promises!

If anyone on behalf of UNHCR or its partners offers you support to leave the country, such as obtaining documents, monetary support, requesting money or favors, this may be a false or fraudulent promise.

Be alert: these offers may be presented in person or through social networks, including Facebook, YouTube, WhatsApp, Twitter and TikTok.

Remember: UNHCR staff members and our partners are properly identified. When in doubt and before sharing your personal information, ask to see identification. If you suspect it is fake, report it!

The Office of the Inspector General of UNHCR is also available.

At UNHCR, we take allegations of misconduct by our staff or our partners seriously.
