How to Apply for Protection Under Article 3 of the European Convention on Human Rights

Curaçao does not have an asylum procedure. However, you can request protection under Article 3 of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR). The Foreigners’ Border Control and Supervision Unit of the Curaçao Police Force (UVTG in Dutch) is responsible for receiving protection requests under Article 3 ECHR. This is the department you must approach to apply for protection under Article 3. To apply for protection, you must go in person to the UVTG and complete an application there or contact them for any questions or information.
