The only reception centre for asylum seekers in the country is in the vicinity of Skopje. The centre is managed by the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy (MLSP). Alternative accommodation outside the reception centre is allowed under the law if it is approved by the MLSP and if arranged by the asylum seekers themselves.
The Centre provides separate accommodation to families (including single parents heads of household), single asylum seekers and persons with specific needs. Wherever possible, families are accommodated together.
The Centre opened in 2008 and has a capacity to accommodate 200 persons.
