  1. Are there available spots in schools to enroll my child?


    School spots are limited, and school registration primarily takes place before the new school year (in August).

  2. How can I register my children in school?

    Aruba has four school boards, but the largest ones, which most children attend, are DPS (public school department) and SKOA (Catholic school system). Each school board has its own set of requirements for registration.

    1. DPS (Public Schools)

    Requirements:
    1. Completed registration form
    2. AWG 250


    2. SKOA (Catholic Schools)

    Requirements (for children with valid permits or Dutch nationality):
    1. Completed registration form (available online)
    2. Civil registration proof (5 florin document)
    3. Address (proof of residence, not older than 3 months)
    4. A copy of the AZV card


    Requirements (for children with permits in process/undocumented children):

    1. Completed registration form
    2. Parents’ valid permits
    3. Parents’ registration proof
    4. Student’s original passport
    5. Birth certificate
    6. Valid health insurance for one year
    7. Guarantor (through Tromp Notary in Santa Cruz, AWG 100)
    8. AWG 100 (including collective accident insurance)

  3. Do children have to take a Dutch course first?

    Yes, children must first take a Dutch course. They can do this through the DPS Prisma language program.

  4. Do you help with buying school uniforms and supplies?

    UNHCR does not provide financial assistance or supply uniforms and school materials. However, our partner HIAS may offer assistance based on their established criteria.
